<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This file depicts the boundaries of Public Use Microdata Areas (PUMAs) identified in the 1% Metro Public Use Microdata Sample from the 1990 Census of Population and Housing. The file was created at the University of Minnesota for the Integrated Public Use Microdata Series (IPUMS-USA--http://usa.ipums.org).</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The boundaries in this file are derived from boundary files from the National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS--http://www.nhgis.org), which are in turn based on the U.S. Census Bureau's 2000 TIGER/Line files, with coastal water areas erased.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The file was updated in February 2017 with these changes:</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>-- Distinct Alaska and Hawaii files were merged into one file with the contiguous U.S.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>-- Filename and attribute table fields were adjusted for consistency with other IPUMS boundary files</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>-- Boundaries in Ketchikan Gateway Borough, Alaska, were corrected to represent land and water areas accurately</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The file was updated in April 2018 with these changes:</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>-- Dissolved 23 PUMAs in California that were incorrectly comprised of multiple polygons. As a result of the dissolve, the number of 1% PUMAs decreased from 1994 to 1735. </SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV> |
