These boundaries are maintained by the South Carolina Revenue & Fiscal Affairs Office (RFA) and represent the most current municipal extents available for statewide mapping, analysis, and planning.  RFA submits municipal boundary updates annually to the U.S. Census Bureau through the Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) to ensure federal datasets accurately reflect local annexations and jurisdictional changes.  This dataset supports state agencies, local governments, planners, and GIS professionals who rely on accurate municipal geography for decision\u2011making and public services.
